		<description>I had to laugh at this one.   Before I discovered the interesting programs on BBC America (as opposed to the drivel on US tv), I&#039;d never heard the term &quot;boffin&quot;.  Taken in context, it seemed to mean (generally) an upper-level genius from any assortment of professions.   In American slang, it sounds like some sort of insult.   :)</description>
