A person detoxing from heroin, will have massive goosebumps, and feel cold and slimy like a cold dead turkey. This is fact. As for the origin of the expression cold turkey I do not know.

I took a collegiate 'drugs and the human body' course where we were told that the term 'cold turkey' comes from heroine addicts, because among other withdrawal symptoms the body becomes covered in chicken pox. Making said person bear resemblance to a plucked turkey. Any thoughts?
